Where do I start?
Come and visit our studio! An appointment is required for your free no-obligation studio tour. Book by calling 253-312-1249 or by filling out our contact form. (Please don’t contact us through Facebook Messenger.)
By visiting our studio, you’ll see all of the possibilities for your photo session. The whole experience is about YOU! During your consultation, we’ll discuss how you’d like to be photographed. We have many different backdrops to choose from. Many customers choose multiple outfits and we have wardrobe items available for you to borrow. We love to get creative. Tell us your ideas for a theme or scene you’d like us to create.
What can I expect from my photo session?
We want you to feel comfortable in order to get great photos. We’ll never rush you, so allow yourself plenty of time. We’ll guide you to pose so that you will look your absolute best. We have a large screen where you can see your photos as we’re taking them. This can be helpful to be sure you get the images you want. At the end of your session, you’ll be able to pick which photos you’d like edited. Then we’ll edit your photos at a later date and provide them by email or at the studio, and you can choose the ones you’d like to order.
Tip: You’ll get more out of your session if you send us examples of the poses you want us to take in advance. Pinterest boards work great!
Who can be in my pictures?
Who will be in your photos is entirely up to you! You are welcome to do a session of just you, or you may choose to have some shots with a friend or significant other, or with your pet(s), or just your pet(s), or with your family, etc. Please note that we require clients to sign a model release for anyone appearing in the images. (The purpose of the model release is to provide the photographer permission to use images for commercial marketing purposes.) Where will the photos be taken?
We have an amazing large studio on Bridgeport Way in Lakewood, Washington, easily accessible from University Place, Fircrest, and Tacoma. If you’d like your photos taken at another location, please give us a call to discuss the details at 253-312-1249.
What time of day do you offer photo sessions?
Windell Portraits normal business hours are 10 am to 5 pm, but we can accommodate other session times too. The natural light in our studio is amazing from 9 am and noon, so keep that in mind when scheduling your session.
How much will the portraits cost?
We require a $200 non-refundable booking fee to schedule your session (RainLight photography booking fee is $300). The cost of printed and digital photos and print packages can be found on our pricing page.
Some people spend $300 and some people spend $5000 or more. What you spend is entirely up to you. Your satisfaction is important to us. You’re not obligated to purchase anything you don’t want. If you don’t like any of your photos, come back for another session and we’ll waive the booking fee.
Is your portrait studio wheelchair accessible?
Yes! We even have wheelchair-accessible restrooms.
